Wat Pathum Wanaram | Bangkok tourism

a peaceful oasis in a district always bustling

This temple is located in Rama I Rd, a busy shopping road. In fact the wat is neighbouring Siam Paragon and Central World. Established in 1857 by the King Mongkut, Rama IV, nearby his palace of Sa Pathum. In that time the temple was in the middle of a rice paddle only accessible by a canal, the Khlong Saen Saeb.

It has been renovated in the last years, being a peaceful oasis in a district always bustling. Precisely one of the elements that allows this goal of tranquility is the huge pond placed in parallel to the street and the fence. We can check how the monks feed the big fishes and some turtles in the pond.

From the skywalk linking Siam with Chidlom it is possible to enjoy a good view of the compound of the temple. The gardens are pretty beautiful, providing a great shade to chill out the usual hot weather.

Address: Rama I Rd.

BTS Siam.
