Kinokuniya | Bangkok guide

Inevitably, in the shopping mall

Part of the Japanese international bookshop chain, Kinokuniya is the equivalent of Waterstone’s in the UK, La Casa del Libro in Spain or Barnes&Noble in the US. It is without a doubt Bangkok’s biggest and best-organised bookshop that sells titles in English, Japanese, Chinese and Thai.

It also stocks a significant number of imported foreign magazines. Kinokuniya lacks the personal touch but it’s still an enjoyable shopping mall bookstore to spend an hour cruising around and looking for the latest reads.

The staff is knowledgeable. There’s a small café in one corner of the bookshop.
