A hungry immigrant landing in Sao Paulo, penniless and homeless, Nonato starts working in a small cafe to pay for his board, attracts the attention of the owner of a fancy restaurant, and moves there. His food attracts many, including the voluptuous prostitute Irina, who offers him her body in return for his food.
