Two things make Parden a special place: it focuses on organic seasonal fruits and it’s a zakka. In Japanese “zakka” means “many things” and little shops selling these sundry goods are spread around Japan. And that is exactly what you’re going to find in one of the corners of this cosy café: anything from cute stationery, retro kitchen goods and funky patches to minimalist photo frames. Some of these cool items are handmade and sold through NGO’s.

Parden’s freshly squeezed fruit juices (75-150B), fluffy fruit cakes (from 125B), yummy fruit puddings (from 120B) and spectacular parfaits (135-165B) pretty much turn this place into a temple devoted to fruits. The menu (written in Thai, Japanese and English) also offers sandwiches (145-180B), pastries (from 50B), a breakfast set (100B), a Nepalese curry (165B) and a Japanese vegetable curry (165B), several flavoured teas (120-150B) and the usual coffees (75-100B).

The Thai-Japanese couple that run this place have managed to create a very homey atmosphere. Mismatched wooden furniture, light walls, smooth music, efficient service and quiet customers make this place a very peaceful urban oasis.
